Find your Place ID at Google's Place ID Finder

Sending customers straight to your Google review box

Asking for a review works better when the customer does not have to hunt for your listing first. A direct review URL skips that search: one tap opens the star rating and comment box for your business. This page builds that URL from your Place ID, the unique identifier Google Maps uses for a location. The output follows the pattern search.google.com/local/writereview?placeid= with your identifier appended. The string is put together locally, and nothing is verified beyond the box not being empty.

Step by step

  1. Follow the Place ID Finder link beneath the input, type your business name into the map search, and copy the identifier from the result.
  2. Paste that identifier into the Google Place ID input.
  3. Press Generate Link to reveal the finished URL in a read-only box, along with usage tips.
  4. Press Copy Link to copy it.
  5. Test it in an incognito window while signed in, and confirm the review dialog names your business.

What to watch for

A typo or a truncated ID still produces a link; it just leads nowhere useful, so the test in the last step matters. If you manage several locations, each one has its own Place ID and needs its own link, and mixing them up sends reviews to the wrong branch. The page mentions QR codes as a use, but it does not create one, so feed the link into a QR generator of your choice.

Google's contributed content policies prohibit paying or rewarding people for reviews, and they prohibit requesting reviews selectively from satisfied customers. Give every customer the same link and the same request. Google Business Profile also has an option for asking for reviews that gives you a short link of its own, and either one can work.

Questions people ask

Where do I find my Place ID without a developer account?

The Place ID Finder on Google's developer site is a public map, and you do not need an API key to use it. Search your business name, pick the result, and the ID appears in the info window.

Do customers need a Google account to use the link?

Yes. Google only accepts reviews from signed-in accounts, so anyone who is signed out will be asked to log in first.

Will the link stop working?

It keeps working as long as the Place ID stays valid. Google notes that these IDs can change, so test the link now and then, especially if it is printed on cards or signs.
