Want your business details in structured data without writing code?
Search engines read your name, address and phone from the page text, and structured data states the same facts in a machine-readable form. This form produces that markup for a single location. Choose a business category, enter your details, and it assembles a JSON-LD block using the matching schema.org type with a nested PostalAddress, plus a GeoCoordinates object when you supply coordinates. It works entirely inside the page and verifies nothing.
Step by step
- Enter the trading name you use on signage and on your Google Business Profile.
- Pick a category from the type list. If none of the 11 specific options fits, keep Local Business (General).
- Enter the street line, city, state or region, ZIP or postal code and two-letter country code (preset to US), then the main phone number and your homepage or location page address.
- Optionally add latitude and longitude in decimal degrees.
- Optionally choose a price band from $ to $$$$ and paste the full address of your logo image.
- Describe your hours in the compact schema.org style (two-letter days, 24-hour times), for example Mo-Fr 08:00-18:00.
- Press "Generate Schema", look it over, press "Copy JSON-LD" and add it to that location's page.
What to watch for
Any field you leave blank, address lines too, is dropped rather than written as an empty value. The country code reverts to US whenever its box is empty, so businesses elsewhere must type their own. Coordinates are all or nothing: the geo object appears only when both boxes contain numbers, with no warning if one is missing.
For more than one schedule, put a comma or semicolon after each time range. The generator breaks the text only at those points, so a weekday range plus a Saturday range become two values in an openingHours array, while the schema.org habit of naming several days before one range (Tu,Th followed by the times) is left intact. For irregular schedules, openingHoursSpecification (used in Google's examples) is more flexible.
Questions people ask
Which fields does Google require?
Google lists name and address as required for local business markup, and recommends others such as telephone, url, geo, priceRange and opening hours.
I have several locations. Can I put them all in one block?
Give each location its own page and its own markup with that branch's address and phone.
Will this markup improve my map rankings?
Do not expect it to. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, and your Business Profile drives much of that. The markup simply restates your details, which should match the profile exactly.
