Need breadcrumb markup but do not want to hand-write JSON-LD?

Hand-typing BreadcrumbList code invites small errors: a missing comma, a position number out of order, a stray quote. This tool builds the code from a simple form instead. You enter each level of the trail as a label plus an address, and it returns a block of JSON-LD inside a script tag, numbered in sequence, that you can drop straight into a template. It all runs in the page, so your addresses never leave your machine.

Step by step

1. Look at the first line of the form. Its label box already says "Home", so you only need to add the root address of your site beside it.
2. Press "+ Add Level" for every further step between the homepage and the page you are marking up. A blog post might need two extra levels: the blog index, then a category.
3. Fill each new line top to bottom, with the most general level first and the current page last.
4. Press "Generate Schema". The code appears in the output area below the buttons.
5. Press "Copy JSON-LD", then paste the code into the head or body of that page, or into the template that renders it.

What to watch for

Because the generator trusts every entry, the checking is on you. Lines whose label is blank are skipped entirely, and the remaining ones are renumbered from 1, so a forgotten label shortens the trail without warning. Lines whose address is blank are kept, but without the item property. Google only lets you omit that address on the final crumb, where it falls back to the address of the page itself, so an empty "Home" address is an easy way to end up with an error. Nothing checks that addresses are absolute, spelled correctly or on your own domain either.

Questions people ask

Does the trail have to copy my URL folders?

No. Google's guidance is that breadcrumbs should reflect a typical path a visitor takes to reach the page, which may differ from the folder structure in the address. What matters more is that the markup describes the same trail the visitor sees on screen.

How do I remove a level I added by mistake?

There is no remove button. Empty the label on that line and it will be left out when you generate, or reload the page to start over.

Will this guarantee breadcrumbs in Google's results?

No tool can promise that. Valid markup makes the page eligible, and Google decides what to display. Test the live page with the Rich Results Test and watch the breadcrumb report in Search Console after it is recrawled.
