Writing JSON-LD by hand is slow and easy to break

A missing comma or a stray quote makes structured data unreadable, and you may not find out until Search Console reports it. This tool takes the typing out of it. You choose a schema.org type, type your values into labeled boxes, and it assembles valid JSON syntax inside a script tag you can drop into any page template. It supports six types: Article, Local Business, Product, Organization, Person and WebPage. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.

Step by step

  1. Choose the type that describes the main thing on the page from the Schema Type dropdown. Switching types redraws the form and wipes earlier entries, so decide first.
  2. Complete only the boxes you can fill truthfully. Blank boxes are skipped in the output rather than printed as empty values.
  3. Press Generate Schema. The code appears in the output panel under the buttons.
  4. Press Copy JSON-LD. The copied text includes the opening and closing script tags.
  5. Paste it into the head or body of the page, publish, and test the live URL.

What to watch for

In Article markup, the author you type is wrapped as a Person and the publisher as an Organization, the shape Google's Article documentation shows. The Publisher box is optional: when it is empty, no publisher property is written, so nothing needs cleaning up afterwards.

Product markup puts price, currency and availability inside an offers object. Availability must match a schema.org value such as InStock, PreOrder or OutOfStock with that exact casing; "in stock" in lowercase becomes an invalid URL. Google's product snippet guidelines expect name plus at least one of offers, review or aggregateRating, and this form can only produce offers.

Local Business sends the address as plain text and opening hours as whatever string you type. Google describes address as a structured PostalAddress, so consider splitting it into its parts after you copy the code.

Questions people ask

Does valid schema guarantee a rich result?

No. Google states that structured data makes a page eligible for rich results but does not promise to show them. Markup also has to match what visitors can see on the page.

Where should the script tag go?

Google reads JSON-LD in either the head or the body. Pick one spot in your template and keep it consistent so the block is easy to find later.

Can I describe several things on one page?

Not in one pass. The tool outputs one entity per click. Generate each type separately and paste the blocks side by side, or merge them into an @graph array yourself.
