Static Site Generator

Technical Definition

Static site generators (SSG) pre-build HTML pages at build time rather than dynamically per request. Examples: Next.js (static export), Gatsby, Hugo, Jekyll, Astro. SEO benefits: fast performance, no server-side rendering delays, excellent Core Web Vitals. Trade-off: rebuild needed for content changes. Good for content that doesn't change frequently.

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

Static site generators create all your website pages ahead of time as HTML files. This makes sites super fast because there's no database to query when someone visits. Great for SEO because of speed, but you need to rebuild the site when content changes. Popular for blogs and documentation sites.
