Redirect Loop

Technical Definition

A redirect loop occurs when redirects create a circular pattern (A→B→A or A→B→C→A). Results in error messages and completely prevents access. Common causes: conflicting redirect rules, CMS and server redirect conflicts, HTTPS/www redirect misconfiguration. Critical issue requiring immediate fix. Identify by attempting to access the URL or using redirect checking tools.

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

A redirect loop is when pages redirect in a circle, so you never actually arrive anywhere. Page A sends you to B, which sends you to C, which sends you back to A. Your browser eventually gives up and shows an error. This completely breaks the page for visitors and Google.
