Quick Reference
Element Code: IN-006
Issue: Page has both noindex and nofollow robots directives
Impact: Page not indexed and links not followed for discovery or equity
Fix: Verify this is intentional; adjust if not desired
Detection: Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, View Source
What Is This Issue?
Noindex prevents indexing while nofollow prevents link equity flow. Together, they completely isolate a page from search. This is appropriate for private or duplicate pages but may indicate errors.
Why This Matters for Your Website
Using both directives maximally restricts search engine interaction. Ensure this is intentional for the page type.
How to Fix This Issue
- Evaluate need: Should this page be completely hidden from search?
- Consider alternatives: Noindex alone may be sufficient
- Adjust if needed: Remove nofollow if links should be followed
Tools for Detection
- Screaming Frog: Shows all robots directives
TL;DR (The Simple Version)
This page has both noindex and nofollow. Make sure you want it completely excluded from search. Often noindex alone is enough.
