Check Name, Address, Phone consistency across your citations.
Do your business listings all show the same name, address and phone?
Over the years a local business collects listings on maps, review sites, industry directories and social profiles, and small differences creep in after a move, a new phone line or a rebrand. Spotting them by eye across dozens of listings is tedious. This page lines up one listing against your master record and marks each of the three fields as matching or not, so an audit becomes a quick copy, paste and click routine. All the work happens in your browser; the tool does not search for listings on its own.
Step by step
- Fill the top three fields with your master details: the business name, phone number and full address you use on your own site.
- Open a listing somewhere else, copy its name, phone and address, and paste each into the matching field in the lower section.
- Press "Check Consistency" and read the result table.
- Note any mismatch, then press "Clear". Only the lower fields are wiped, so you can move straight to the next listing.
What to watch for
The matching is forgiving about case, punctuation and spacing, and strict about everything else. Written-out words and their short forms are different strings to the tool, so Street against St, North against N, or Suite against Ste all come back as mismatches. Accents are folded before the comparison, so é counts as e and ñ as n. Letters with no plain equivalent, such as ß or ø, are kept as they are, so Straße and Strasse count as different, and names in Greek, Japanese or any other script are checked character for character. For phones only the digits count, which ignores spaces, dots and brackets but not an extra country code or an extension. If you leave a field blank on both sides, it counts as matching, so fill in all six boxes for a meaningful result. The tool also checks one listing at a time; keep your own list of which sites you have covered.
Questions people ask
Does every listing need to match character for character?
No. The aim is that a person or a search engine can tell the listings describe the same business. Fix wrong or outdated details first; a harmless abbreviation is a much lower priority.
Which version should be my primary NAP?
Use the details on your Google Business Profile and your website, and make those two agree with each other first. Everything else should follow them.
Can the tool find my listings for me?
No. It compares what you paste. You still need to locate each listing yourself, for example by searching for your business name or phone number.
