Technical Definition
GA4 (Google Analytics 4) is the current Google Analytics version, launched 2020. Event-based model (vs. session-based UA). Key features: cross-platform tracking, machine learning insights, BigQuery export, enhanced privacy controls. Different metrics and interface from Universal Analytics. Uses engagement rate instead of bounce rate. Requires new learning curve for UA users.
Simple Explanation (ELI13)
GA4 is the current version of Google Analytics, which replaced Universal Analytics in 2023. It works differently, tracking 'events' instead of just page views. Some things are named differently (like 'engagement rate' instead of 'bounce rate'), and the interface takes getting used to. But it has powerful new features.
