Content Gap Analysis

Technical Definition

Content gap analysis identifies keywords competitors rank for that you don't. Process: pull competitor keyword data, identify gaps in your coverage, prioritize by opportunity (volume, difficulty, relevance). Reveals content opportunities. Can also analyze topic gaps (subjects not covered) and format gaps (content types missing from your mix).

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

Content gap analysis finds topics your competitors rank for but you don't. If three competitors all rank for 'how to choose running shoes' and you don't have a page about that, it's a gap you could fill. It's a smart way to find content ideas that are proven to attract search traffic.
