Element Code: ON-032

Quick Reference (Critical Issue)

Issue: Page has no HTML content or is essentially empty

Impact: Nothing to index, complete SEO failure

Fix: Add content or investigate why page is empty

Detection: Screaming Frog word count, manual inspection

What Is This Issue?

An empty or near-empty page provides nothing for search engines to index and nothing for users to engage with. This could indicate a technical error, placeholder page, or content that failed to load.

Common Causes

  • JavaScript rendering failures
  • Unpublished or draft pages accessible to crawlers
  • Server-side rendering errors
  • Deleted content without redirect
  • Template pages without content

How to Fix This Issue

  1. Investigate Cause: Why is this page empty?
  2. Add Content: If legitimate page, add appropriate content
  3. Remove/Redirect: If unnecessary, delete or redirect to relevant page
  4. Block from Indexing: If intentionally empty, use noindex

TL;DR (The Simple Version)

Your page has no content. Either add content, redirect to another page, or block it from search engines with noindex. Empty pages waste crawl budget and provide no value.
