Attribution assigns credit to marketing touchpoints for conversions. Models: last click (full credit to final touchpoint), first click (credit to first), linear (equal distribution), data-driven (ML-based). Important for understanding customer journey and channel value. GA4 uses data-driven attribution by default. SEO often gets undervalued in last-click models.

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

Attribution is figuring out which marketing channels deserve credit when someone converts. If someone finds you on Google, leaves, sees your ad later, then buys, who gets credit? Different attribution models answer this differently. Understanding attribution helps you see the true value of SEO, which often starts the customer journey.
