Technical Definition
Dwell time is duration a user spends on a page before returning to search results. Longer dwell time may indicate content satisfaction. Not a confirmed ranking factor but logically related to quality signals. Distinguish from time on page (any exit) and session duration (overall visit). Some believe it influences rankings.
Simple Explanation (ELI13)
Dwell time is how long someone stays on your page before going back to Google. If people click your result and immediately go back to try another result, that suggests your page didn't help them. If they stay a while, your content probably answered their question. It might affect rankings.
