Technical Definition

Resource hints tell browsers to prepare for future resource needs. Types: dns-prefetch (resolve DNS), preconnect (establish connection), prefetch (get resource for later), preload (get critical resource now), prerender (render entire page). Used to optimize loading performance.

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

Resource hints tell browsers to start getting things ready before they're needed. You can tell it to look up domain names early, connect to servers ahead of time, or preload important files. It's a way to make pages feel faster by doing work in advance.
