Missing Local Schema

Missing local schema
Quick Reference

  • Element Code: LOC-005
  • Issue: Page lacks LocalBusiness structured data
  • Impact: Missed rich-result eligibility and weaker entity signals
  • Fix: Add valid LocalBusiness JSON-LD matching your NAP
  • Detection: Rich Results Test, Schema validator

What this issue means

LocalBusiness schema is structured data (ideally JSON-LD) that tells search engines your business name, address, phone, hours, geo-coordinates, and type. It strengthens how clearly Google understands your business as an entity.

Why it matters

Accurate LocalBusiness markup reinforces your NAP, supports knowledge-panel and rich-result eligibility, and helps disambiguate your business from similarly named ones. It's a low-effort, high-clarity signal.

How to fix it

  1. Add JSON-LD with the correct @type (use the most specific subtype, e.g., Dentist, Restaurant).
  2. Include name, address (PostalAddress), telephone, openingHours, geo, and url.
  3. Match it exactly to your canonical NAP and GBP.
  4. In WordPress, RankMath's Local SEO module or a schema plugin can output this automatically.
  5. Validate with Google's Rich Results Test.

Common mistakes

  • Marking up information that doesn't match the visible page or GBP.
  • Using the generic LocalBusiness type when a specific subtype exists.
  • Invalid JSON-LD that fails validation silently.

Tools

Google Rich Results Test, Schema.org validator, and RankMath's schema generator.
