H1 Tag

Technical Definition

The H1 tag is the primary heading element on a page. Best practices: one H1 per page, include target keyword, accurately describe page content, different from title tag but related. H1 signals topic to search engines and users. Part of the HTML heading hierarchy (H1-H6). Multiple H1s aren't penalized but aren't ideal for clarity.

Simple Explanation (ELI13)

The H1 is the main headline on your page, usually the biggest text at the top. Every page should have one H1 that says what the page is about. It's different from the title tag (which shows in search results). Include your main keyword and make it clear what visitors will find on the page.
