Technical Definition
NAP is the core business information that must be consistent across all online listings. Inconsistent NAP confuses search engines and users. Format should match everywhere: Google Business Profile, website, directories, social profiles. Part of citation building and local SEO foundation. Use exact same formatting (St. vs Street, Suite vs #).
Simple Explanation (ELI13)
NAP stands for Name, Address, and Phone number. For local SEO, this information needs to be exactly the same everywhere your business appears online. If your Google listing says 'Main Street' but Yelp says 'Main St.,' that inconsistency can hurt your local rankings.
